Simone Biles, 19, Becomes First American Woman To Win On The Vault, Adding Her 3rd Gold Medal For Rio 2016
“Superwoman” Simone Biles, 19, earned her 3rd gold medal on Sunday for vault in the ongoing 2016 Rio Olympics. Coming in with a first place score of 15.966, she said, “It’s something I wanted so badly, so I just tried keeping a good mind going into the vault.” Coming in for 2nd and 3rd place, Russia’s Maria Paseka claimed silver and Switzerland’s Giulia Steingruber claimed bronze. Earning her 3 gold medals, it is the first time in Olympics history that a female gymnast has gained that amount in one Olympics. Biles will have more opportunities in this week to earn more medals.
On a different note, on Simone Biles’ love life, she referred to participating Olympian Arthur Nory, 22, on Twitter as her “Brazilian boyfriend” and after Arthur Nory won bronze on the men’s floor exercise, posted on Twitter “congrats, so proud of you” with emojis. Including CNN reposting it onto their Twitter profile.

Going on to other gymnasts, Dipa Karmakar, 23, was the first female gymnast to compete in the Olympics and finished in 4th for vault. Oksana Chusovitina, 41, from Uzbekistan competed in her 7th Olympics this year coming in 7th place.
